The only remains of this ancient fortress are the Torre della Campana (Bell Tower) turned into a civic museum, the Torre Mozza (Cropped Tower) and on the entrance square the little Saint Orsola church. Go down viale Benini and at the second turn descend the steep slope called calle degli Asini (calle Scoto de Scoti). This leads to Porta Monticano, with frescoes by Pordenone and to two adjacent towers bearing the Carraresi coat of arms (1384-1388). Returning towards Piazza Cima: on the left you'll find the Palazzo Montalban Nuovo (18th century), the l6th century Palazzo Sarcinelli, which houses the civic library, and Casa Longega.
